Magical Spaces Tues, Feb 19, Ages 10-14
How do artists create paintings in which some things seem close, and others very far away? Student will learn the techniques behind the illusion. We will learn techniques of one-point perspective in drawings which transform simple geometric shapes into 3-dimensional objects in space.
More Magical Spaces Wed, Feb 20, Ages 10-14
Imagination, dreams, and breaking laws of nature are the highlights of Surrealist art. Students will learn about Surrealism and work back into their drawings, transforming the simple 3-D shapes into a variety of objects. Collage elements will be added to truly create something magical! Themes will include dreams, board games, and the impossible.
Fantastical Abstraction, Thurs, Feb 21, Ages 6-10
Each child will draw and paint their own abstract art masterpiece. We will look at famous abstract artists and discuss how they use line, color, pattern and texture. We will learn how to mix the primary colors and make secondary colors to paint an imaginative painting.
Imaginary Birds, Butterflies & Animals Fri, Feb 22, Ages 6-10
In this class we’ll create imaginary animals made up by combining parts of different animals. We’ll look at examples of the magical and mysterious animals that Marc Chagall created from his imagination. Each child will choose 3 animals to mix-up and make their own to draw and then paint.
