A message from Kimsokun Ket:

I love meditation and body movement and in fact I meditate more than asana (yoga practice). Meditation helps me to get over depression and to live life in a meaningful way.
Let me tell you a little story how I got into meditation and yoga.
In 2006, I moved to the United States from Cambodia with the promise that I would visit my grandparents as soon as I settled in. Two years later, both my grandparents passed away within the same year. My grandparents were important to me because my parents weren’t around at all when I was growing up. I was practically raised by my grandparents. It was a shocking moment to me to receive this unfortunate news. This was when I began to fall into a depression without even knowing it. In 2010, I led my new journey through meditation as a guide and fell in love with yoga afterward. Meditation and yoga gave me a new perspective in life by living life with more awareness in the present moment.
During the 2015 school year, I didn’t find the reasons of being at school is a good idea because of how much debts I was in, so I decided to take yoga training by following the heart and took a semester off from school. I loves education but education with a lot of debt was something I couldn’t agree on. Ironically enough, even though I took some times off from school, I managed to get a job teaching yoga at Umass Lowell. The plus side to this was at least it gives me privileges to attend fitness class through their facility and met a few people that help me with growing more into teaching. When I started teaching at Lowell Learns Community, where my teaching is based on donations, for two years, is when I truly started to enjoy and appreciate my teaching.
I found that teaching is a place for me to get lost in a state of flow, to play, to have fun, to be creative, to be fearless, and to overcome discomforts. Yoga is a place where I can be at my own best and serve to people with wellness, where it perfectly aligns with my values.
